ITU would like to direct your attention to several updates to the ITU Competition Rules that have been made since January 1, 2016.

For Elite, U23, Junior and Youth draft-legal competitions, wheel characteristics in section 5.2.c.) (vi) of the rule book have been updated to reflect that wheels shall have been approved by UCI or have 20 steel detachable spokes, an aluminum rim and all components must be identifiable and commercial available.

In accordance with rule 17.16 b.) (iii), which relates to tethers for PT5 paratriathletes, the tethers will not be centrally provided by ITU for the 2016 season. The rules remain as it was in 2015 - that the tether should be elastic rope with bright or reflective color and up to 1 m long measured with no tension.

The air to water temperature correlation chart in section 4.3, which is used if the water temperature is lower than 22 C and the air temperature is lower than 15 C, has been updated according to the latest results of the Low water temperature survey and in accordance with the formerly approved water temperature limits.

The new time trial qualifying round format, which will debut at the Kitzbuehel world Cup, is also included in the updated rules as it was announced before.
